What you get

The hard part was never seeing it.It's knowing what to mix.

🎨

Whole Parts

The mix comes out in whole parts you can actually measure with a knife — 8 Cerulean, 3 Ultramarine, 1 Alizarin.

🔢

Step by Step

Mixing instructions that show what the pile should look like at every stage, so you know if you're on track.

🧰

Your Paint Box

Set the tubes you own and recipes come only from those. Star your go-to paints and the search leans toward them.

🔄

Alternatives

Sometimes a two-paint mix beats a fussier three-paint one. You get the options and pick the one you like.

⚠️

Tinter Warnings

A heads-up when a strong tinter is about to run away with the mix, before it does.

Pigment Sheets

Tinting strength, color index, the masstone-to-tint ladder, and what to substitute if you don't have it.

The one rule

Real color mixing, not RGB averaging.

Screen color is additive; paint is subtractive. Blend blue and yellow as pixels and you get grey. Masstone never averages RGB — every mix runs through spectral reflectance curves, so blue and yellow make green, the way they do on your palette.

How it works

Point it at a reference photograph and tap the color you want — or skip the photo and pick one off a wheel, or type a hex value. Masstone searches the paints in your box for the mix that lands closest, and hands you the recipe.

Pin colors to compare them side by side. Painting in acrylic? It shows both the dry color, which is what has to match, and the wet color, which is what should be on your palette.

A mixing aid, not a lab instrument.

Lighting, camera white balance and your own brand of paint all change the outcome. What matters is which pigments to reach for, and roughly in what proportion.
