How to mix peach
Target
#F6C8A8
Recipe mixes to #FFC29F
Peach is a pale orange, and the clean way to it is white with a part of Cadmium Orange and a part of Yellow Ochre. The orange gives the hue and the ochre softens it so it does not read as sherbet. Cadmium Orange is the tube outside a common box.
The recipe
This one reaches outside the common 10-tube starter box. The paints above are from Masstone’s full pigment library.
Step by step
Build the pile from the biggest, lightest component and work toward the strongest tinter. Check the pile against each swatch before moving on.
- Start with 10 parts Titanium Whitepile #F6F6F4
- Work in 1 part Cadmium Orangepile #FFC6AB
- Work in 1 part Yellow Ochrepile #FFC29F
Another route
Raw Sienna in place of the ochre gives a slightly more golden, muted peach at nearly the same accuracy. Pick whichever earth yellow you have out.
What goes wrong
The target is light enough that the parts are coarse: one part of orange in twelve is already the whole color. Build from the white and add the orange a little at a time. A common box's route, white with Cadmium Yellow and Cadmium Red, comes out cleaner and more pink; the engine put it outside good range, which is why this page reaches for the orange.

Results vary with brand, lighting and medium. Acrylic dries a touch darker than it looks wet. Treat this as a mixing aid, not a lab instrument: it tells you which tubes to reach for and roughly in what proportion. Fine-tune the last stretch by eye.
